Re: Water coming out exhausts

Hi Herb, I was quite surprised how much was coming out as I had the complete exhaust system off and removed the cat! But that does me piece of mind, will get an oil filter tool, and filter tomorrow and wont be riding the bike till I have that sight glass clear again. What is best oil? Semi-synthetic...

Water coming out exhausts

Hi folks, My R1100S hadnt been run for some time and now I have fitted a De-Cat pipe and of course re-tapped the heads for new bolts today I started her up. Once warmed there was water coming out of the exhausts and when I checked the sight glass the oil is heavily emulsified. The bike hadnt run exc...

Re: R1100S Lambda Sensor looms

I recently fitted a de-cat pipe and of course had to remove the sensor from its socket in the loom. Did you cut the cable tie securing it to the loom under the tank as the cable seemed to me to be quite long? I would have thought if the sensor was going in to your new exhaust system it would be in a...

The reason I had the two socket cap bolts left over was I had bought some extra cap head screws to replace worn ones which are mainly used in fairing, tank, bodywork etc. These are easily damaged when removing them, especially if they are corroded so I am fitting a different type, with integral wash...

Found it! You steered me in the correct direction : http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0432-USA-06-2002-259S-BMW-R_1100_S_98_0422,0432_&diagId=46_0450 Item 11. I had fitted two of the small round cap screws where I should have fitted socket cap screws with washers. Great stuff and than...

Not the numberplate hanger, it does use M5 socket cap screws but they are longer. I'm sure they came from under the tank somewhere!
Will try and find realoem, thanks.

Eek, 2 screws left over!

Help! Not being very familiar with the R1100S I need a bit of assistance here... I bought a de-Cat pipe from DanMoto and prepared the bike for fitting. It took a few weeks to arrive so when I was waiting I did the following things in preparation and I have obviously forgotten all the steps i took. R...

I have experienced stuck studs on my Yamaha SR500 but that was a 40 year old bike!
Two more to drill and tap then I will be using stainless throughout the rebuild.

Got it all off, the problem was one of the studs on the RHS had rusted solid inside the cat connection and no amount of drilling would cut it. Brute force with a punch finally got it all seperated. I did lift the rear subframe to release the exhausts so will add that to my list of things to do with ...

Exhaust Removal

I'm sure this has been covered before but I want to remove the end cans and cat as my de-cat pipe should arrive soon. How do I remove the rear silencer unit? Do I have to take the whole subframe off or is there an "easier" way? Also how is the cat secured? I see one bolt and two rubber ins...

Hi Rich, yep good thinking as the nuts will shear unless they are taken off regularly and greased. Have you got the old studs out yet? I have two of my four removed and retapped. Am still trying to get the right hand header pipe off as it is stuck at the cat end even with the bolt heads taken off. I...
