"Exclamation Mark" warning light

Post by POB »

... mine keeps coming on when I turn on the lights. I have checked all the bulbs and all is well (none blown). Any ideas? Mine is an 02 with Irritable Braking System. Lights are (so far) stock. Am planning on LED rear and HID front some time this spring.

Hi,
If I start mine with a low battery the "!" light comes on - after a short ride switch off and then restart and its gone so battery voltage might be playing a part here.

Thoses very clever Germans did something (certainly later models) with the rear light circuit so that if the rear side light goes the stop light filiment is used instead.

Hope this helps.

Very clever. Mine's an 02 - does that count as a late one?

Will have a close look tomorrow and see if the filaments are one and the same. Rear light certainly isn't bright. Might need to bring the LED panel purchase forward a bit. :-)

If I do lots of short trips in the cold and dark (with heated grips on) I have got the battery light on constant a few times, normally goes away again after a good run.

whilst in france last year the same warning light came on for me.

checked the tail light bulb and it had blown, however the light still worked as the current had been transferred to the brake light filament.new stop/tail bulb solved the problem .
