No New Black R1200S'

Post by julian »

Stoppped off at BMW Park Lane to check out deals on the R1200S.

There are no black ones left in the country and no more are planned. They offered to spray a yellow bike black for me.

With regard to trade-in value, a stock '98 vintage R1100s with 37k miles would fetch less than a grand.

Even with that modified screen!!!! I thought that would increase the value!

Hi Julian,

These dealers are seriously taking the p*ss with the trade in price. Go to www.wisebuyers.co.uk and in the bike section a 99 bike comes out as 2.5K part ex and 2.3K for trade. Other people have told me about main dealers not giving very good trade prices for 1100S's and Mill's in Sunderland wouldn't touch a mint 05 with fsh.

If I was looking for a black 12's I,d buy secondhand and stuff the dealer. There's one in a bike show room up my neck of the woods, its a black 06 with 7K on the clock for £7995 a big saving and you get what you want.

Cheers, cobbster.

I got a late 06 R1200s with the sports pack (Ohlins etc), heated grips, ABS, Alarm with 456 miles on it for £6995. And then I chucked it down the road.
I never want to fall off again!!

You can read what ever you like in a book, they ain't the people who've gotta take the bike in,and get rid of it,when i say get rid,if they sell for peanuts,i can guarantee that the muppet who buys it will still come back and complain, because thats what punters do!!!,and hence why most dealers just dump them out to the trade lower down the food chain,it just isn't worth the hassle.

As for the 1100s offered at Mills, who wants to sell a brand new bike, make a couple of grand profit(if their lucky) and then have it all tied up in a P/X that can be a horror to sell, when you know the new u'n will sell in march and the chances are, you won't have to pay for it till you sell it.
