That's the cleanest cat you will ever see...

Renewed the tax.

Considering the y piece.... but not sure it gives that much more ooomph for the money??

Mods since the picture..... Petrol connectors (R1150).
LHS cam belt tensioner
Bars above the top yoke
Goodridge Brake pipes.
Reservoir mounted ram mount for Garmin quest... with wiring.
Extra power point.
Staineless bolts where sensible.

I have recently ditched mine in favour of a Remus y piece and the improvement is quite noticable and the sound is much better (more throaty) although I must confess I changed to Laser end cans at the same time. :D

Stuart, no other mods required. From my understanding, and I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, you only need to change the chip if you fit a Y piece in combination with a high flow air filter and exhaust system.

Go on, you know want too.

Wooops  I've fitted the Y piece & a K & N filter, but NO chip - the bike goes like stink now (particularly in the mid range), should I be considering a chip of some kind ('54 plate bike) ?
Oh yes by the way - Silver is the new quickest version of this fine piece of machinery.

Hi Guys'

IMHO doesn't a four stroke engine rely on back pressure so If you make it "breath easier" you need to retard/advance ignition timing? the more gas and air mix in the pot the bigger the bang!

Go on chip it!

I always assumed that "free breathing" was the order of the day at all times, but Yamaha (I think) first introduced the exhaust restricting valve to increase the performance in the mid-range?

At the upper reaches of the rev-range - it is wide open of course.

Al :D

Yeh - it's got the standard silencers (awesome sound now) still fitted, & to be honest the power gains from an aftermarket set up would have to be massive to make me change because the sound is just fantastic & the bike is plenty quick enough for me. I'm honestly not that bothered about going down the chip route..... maybe, perhaps, honestly wifey type person - now pass that credit card..... :P
