How do I remove the panier locks

Post by FuzzyEdges »

How do I remove the lock from the panier so I can code them to my key?

Do I really have to drill out all the rivets to get access?

Jeez! Long time since I have done that!

Check on Youtube - there will be a few vids from that era of panniers.

It does look ridiculously easy in this video
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

As in the video Paul linked too, I made a more robust tool for the job but expect to be exasperated unless your very lucky. Patient’s is a virtue. Took me a lot of attempts but is successful if you persevere. Good luck

You should be able to tickle that last 'leaf' in the barrel through a hole in the inside face of the pannier body.

Just had a nightmare experience with later panniers. Managed 1 but not the other ....
