Riding home from work yesterday I went through Hawarden towards an area known locally as "Tinkersdale", as you're leaving the village it's downhill and there's occasionally a camera van there to scoop up those who've allowed their vehicle to pick up speed. Being honest there's no houses there just a poorly used car park. The camera vans in north Wales are run by a private firm I believe.
Yesterday the camera van was there but I paid it little heed as I knew I was within the 30 limit.
This morning when I logged onto Facebook, I was surprised to see the van, it appears someone checked its plates and its MoT expired in February

I saw a van parked out on the A170 near Helmsley at 20:30 on sunday night, I was surprised, I thought they were all tucked up in bed by that time of night, be careful out there.

I recently read on the 'net (so it must be true ) that vehicles maintained in Crown workshops, don't require an MOT. No idea if this is the case or not?

Its true - 'a vehicle provided for police purposes and maintained in an approved workshop' is exempt.
