Something Missing?

Post by Grip Fast »

Hi all,

I went on a great ride out yesterday. The weather was fine, but the roads were really filthy. Gave the bike a good clean (I thought) when I got home, but today, it still looked like it had been through a ploughed field, so another wash and polish today. Get to the point!

Ok, while cleaning it today, I noticed there is something missing from just above the rear number plate light. Whatever it was had been stuck on and what has been left behind is just a rectangle of wet card which easily pealed off.

Should there be a red reflector plate just there? I can't recall, but can't think what else it could be. A bit like this:

Haven't been able to find a picture of the rear end of a R1200S to check.

Took a mate on the back for a few miles a while back. He had to hold on to me so tight to avoid getting dumped on the road that it was almost... Well... Erotic!

Don't know how to rephrase the first sentence so it doesn't sound a bit ooo-errr-missus too.

Took the GF round the 'Ring a few years ago on the back of my 1100S and she was fine - one hand in the rear hand hold and one round me and she thought it was, and I quote "enjoyable" with no dramas. Mind you she spent the next 3 hours in the cafe chain smoking and drinking black coffee while I got more laps in.

Yes they allow pillions or at least they did back in 2009 when we did it.
If you know Neil Leigh, he used to take his missus Ann round whenever she was there whilst he was instructing.
