R1100S universal joint

The bearings have worn out. Can I but new ones - if so where? If not is there someone who can replace them.

Do you mean the Final Drive or Bevel Box bearings? If so all bearings are available from motorworks or BMW, last time I checked BMW dealers were actually cheaper for one of the bearings, big one I think. The 2 bearings on the crown wheel arent too difficult, the one on the pinion is the tricky one needing a special tool or a made up one, (big castle nut) and a decent impact wrench. Strictly speaking, after new bearings you may need different shims, Steptoe or another might be along to suggest otherwise.
I stripped my bevel box down, but when I totted up the price of the bearings and seals and the hassle, I ended up getting a complete S/H box.
Old bevel box still in bits in shed with new large oil seal, 4 years later
I'll recon it one day and put it up for sale, along with the spare gearbox.

Afaik as I know the uj's on the drive shaft aren't renewable , generally the shaft is replaced with a good s/h unit.

Dur, didnt even think he was talking about that but yeah, I also got a S/H shaft from Motorworks.

"Good" been the important bit, not that easy to Know when buying a salvage lump from ebay

Indeed, I got the rear section from Darren(Motorworks), £40 if memory still works, looked like new.
