Well I didn't think it was the same (hence my 'close but no cigar' comment) but now I'm not so sure. I thought the 'Mille' designation was dropped in 03 and replaced by RSV1000R?

Anyway, arrive tomorrow and as I've not ridden it yet here's hopin for some sunshine at the weekend

How well can you fold up? I rode one with helibars and lowered pegs... still felt like I had to put my knees in my armpits while trying to grab the front axle. But it sure does rail.

Nice one! One of my fav bikes. Never ridden one but always admire the looks, sound and the way they go.

Good prices too - I was looking at a factory model for less than £6k at a dealer.

Like you I've never ridden one either but the looks are great. Must admit that the 05 bikes (with lion's head bodywork decals) look better than the 04 but hey, you buy whats in front of you. I'll have to let you know how it goes.

The Factory version is the dogs doodahs but are that bit more expensive and I'm not sure I could tell the difference in the handling

Also the gold frame of the latest version looks a little to 'bling' for me on anything but the all black version, which IMO looks the absolute bollox.

If I really like this one I might trade up.

Not sure you should trade your 1200S for one though as surely the RSV is a bit close to the Blade? Better to wait to get board of Blade and chop that?

Now, which one to bring to Wales?

Greg - if you bring to Wales you'll have to let us all have a shot on it! You'll be tempted I bet but the sensible option will be the Beemer for the comfort for the journey over.

I've not touched the BM since I bought the Blade. I really hope to rekindle some kind of fondness for it in Wales....if not its going.

Greg, are you meeting us at Squires for the ride over or coming down later on?

Only managed a weekend pass so not travelling up till Saturday morning I'm afraid. Should be a hoot though. 113 miles to Betsy, unload (not sure where as I don't know the B&B will let us have the room till later), get fueled up and be at the carpark by 10am, followed by a 160mile tour of North Wales

Looking forward to it but someone needs to sort the weather!

Well done Greg - you're obviously a man of great taste

Just to clear up the confusion - pre 2004 you had the RSV 1000 Mille & Mille 'R', and post 2004 (new shape) you've got the RSVR 1000 & RSVR 1000 Factory.

IMHO the Factory is not worth the extra wonga, but it's nice to say you've got one (bit like the BCR perhaps?

).

I'm 5'11" & 12.5st and find the RSVR really comfortable (certainly a world away from my 2004 R6). I think you're going to have a hoot!

Hmmmmmm.......well it's certainly got some go

unfortunately it doesn't want to go all the time

Took it out for the first time yesterday for a little bimble but within a couple of miles its stuttering like a good un, won't rev properly and kept stalling at junctions

The bike has been sat idle for about 12 months or so, although i'm sure it was fired up a few times during that time but never ridden (knob).

Could be down to old fuel but does anyone else have any ideas.

Anyway, looks like trip to the 'prilla' dealer for me

Greg,who do you use for you repairs?only there is a shop in bridgetown on the A5 near Cannock (chase superbikes 01543466416)that was an outlet for Aprilla,but due to the lack of support for spares and back up they pulled out,but the mechanics are Aprilla trained but without the dealer costs.only a thought if you are struggling.

Ive not had the new shaped one but I had a Colin Edwards RVSR and a Tuono Racing.. loved them.
Have ridden teh letsest Tuono too. They sounds nice.

Prolly just needs a good service (including fuel filter & plugs). Battery possibly on it's way out aswell. Oh, and you might want to check the infamous brown connector behind the coolant bottle (cheap & easy fix, how-to guide is on apriliaforum.com). Spoonz on RSVR.net is very helpful / knowledgeable.

It's fixed

Turned out the fuel tank was full of some white powdery crud

Blocked up the fuel filters, pump, breathers, the lot.
Couple of hours stripping it all down and cleaning it out and its right as rain. Workshop didn't have a clue as to what caused it, maybe just really old fuel? Oh and the throttle bodies also needed balancing as they were a mile out.

Now it's running right, f*ck me, is it quick? Having never ridden a sports bike before it takes a bit of getting used too. The motor has got so much grunt from about 2k onwards its mad. The red line is at 10.5k but there is no need to go anywhere near that. I dread to think how much faster a new Blade would be

Brakes (front anyway) are also phenominal and they make a fantastic hissing noise when you use them hard.

rear brake doesn't seem to work at all (even for slow speed work) but apparently 'they all do that sir'

Riding position isn't to bad when on the move but around town the wrists soon start to complain. Not sure I'd like to do any real distance on it though. Sitting on the S afterwards is a revelation in comfort.

Anyway, lets see how we get on together.
