1100s soon to be in Gloucestershire
Hello, my name is Tim and I like motorcycles.
I've owned a few since getting my licence four years ago, but I've not ownd a twin cylinder machine before. Had a few fours, couple of singles and a triple (955i) which I really liked but never a twin.
I was...going to get an RSVR but.....for some reason I've agreed to buy an eight year old R1100s.
It's red and has loud (laser) cans and sounds lovely. It's a bit tatty in places (fork brace, cracked mudgaurd) and it's not even that cheap for it's age (only got 17k miles on the clock) but I'm really looking forward to riding it.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello. The site looks great.
Cheers
Tim

Collected the bike yesterday. Got to know it a little bit on the 100 mile ride home down a dark, wet, nose-to-tail-traffic M4. Got through another tank of fuel today (in the rain..I must like it..) and I really quite pleased with it tbh.
Very different from what I'm used to. Sounds lovely, pulls very well but there seems to be nothing to be gained from using the top end. Still pulls hard in 6th which means I keep trying to find 7th..
I took the baffles out of the laser cans and now it doesn't want to idle properly (sub 1k rpm) and cut out a couple of times in traffic. I've put the idle speed contol lever onto position 1 and that solves the problem but I guess I'll need to get it adjusted if I'm keeping them out. I think that's the cause of the low idle anyway.
It's a bit heavy on the wrists even when compared to the rice rocket I was on before so I'll have to get used to bracing against the tank a bit more to keep the weight off in town. Luckily it came with a bagster tank cover.
Front brake seems a little weak. I'll bleed it through or maybe change the 8 year old lines although it could just be the absence of fork dive confusing me.
Anyway, all good so far. Now I'd like some fair weather please

Probably just needs the TB's balancing and setting up, quite easy, if youve got a Vacuum Guage of some description, give us a shout if you need to borrow oneTim H wrote: I took the baffles out of the laser cans and now it doesn't want to idle properly (sub 1k rpm) and cut out a couple of times in traffic.
