Hi Guys...
Happy new year to all..
Could any one tell me in simple terms the differance betwwen the 500 and 550 please as everytime i start to filter all the info i seem to fall asleep..
And is it any better than my quest?? as thats taken me all over europe over the last 5 years..

The 550 comes with Europe preloaded plus the European DVD to be able to make routes, the 500 comes with local maps preloaded and a DVD with all European maps.
For the 500 to be able to use all of Europe, you will need to load the maps onto a SD card or something.
Also the 500 does not have text-to-speech (doesn't say street names when navigating, only says left/right distance)

This is one of the big things that swung it for me; the 500 doesn't have text to speech which is really useful if you're concentrating on the road etc and too busy to look at the display. For the extra few quid, the 550 is the daddy.throttlemeister wrote:

I have a 500 - I'm happy with it. Once you've loaded the extra maps it is fine.
I don't think the text-to-speech thing is going to be any value if you can see on screen what is going on.
The only other thing though that might swing it is that the 550 comes with TWO installation kits. One to go on the bike and one to go in the car. Since I already have one in the car that was lost on me but if you need something that does both...
