Was out on a test run on an R1200s this afternoon...............WOW!
Couldn't believe the stability through bends and the torque compared to the BoxerCup. (It was fitted with Ohlins shocks - which might have helped a bit). It's also a bike that is so easy to move about on the seat.
Went from Dalkeith down to Lauder, then accross to Stow and back up the A7. Unfortunately got behind a huge string of slow moving lorries.......so did a U-turn and went back down to Stow to pick my time for coming back up the road. Just loved it!
Absolutely brilliant bike - one to think about for the future, that's for sure.
Found the gearing a bit different from the BCR and didn't have much confidence in the rear brake. Did find that my back was a bit sore after that, which I don't get on the BCR or the Daytona, though.

I finally had a go on the R1200S and K1200S today down at S C.
Went on the K and it felt soleless - bit like my Fazer. Obviously highly efficient in the 'reeling in the horizon' department and the ride was absolutely superb. Handling felt good but there was a lot of traffic around - usually going backwards in mirrors - but not enough variety of bends to tell really. Brakes felt awful - really scary - like they needed bleeding. Again I've no doubt they're highly efficient but I certainly didn't like the feel. Same with the box - felt like a switch sure but no feeling - like it was remote or slightly disconnected. Easy bike to ride smoothly straight away though. Just felt like a bored shag - you know everything is happening as it should and going through the motions but it felt like it just wasn't really interested.
Had a go on the R and Feck me.... like chalk and cheese. This one had the Remus pipes burbling and popping away behind. Luuuuvery. I was genuinely not expecting it to be as fast as it was. The torque was always instant - felt like you were sitting on a horse that had just been broken in and someone had fired a shotgun in it's ear. Fairly FLEW off whenever I gave it the slightest whipping. That is one seriously lovely toy. A really soleful angry beast like a big dog on a short lead. It just wants to run and run and run after the nearest rabbit. I really like that big lots. It's nice to ride a bike that is really different and I'm glad the R1200S has maintained that 'like me or bite me' attitude. I'm fed up with clones!

I'll ditto what Jason said about the K1200s,he also missed the crap fuelling low down and the clunky gearbox at low speed on about the same level an a Harley Furgerson!!!,and strangely enough when i test rode one wasn't deflated when i got back on my S,still hasn't stopped me wanting one!.
...took the S out this (very) early morning (Saturday 09/09) ; and did already a little tour. Now I'm doing a coffee, and a search for my mobile phone (think I lost it....), and jump on the bike again in a few moments...
...it's not only a fast bike, it also a comfortable one. A bit less allround than the 11S, but luckily still a great tourer...

You picked the nicest colour too, Ron.
There was one more thing that I was concerned about...................... it only uses 98 RON fuel.
Can be a bit of a problem around the countryside and could preclude touring of any sort (even in luggage was sorted)

We didn't do any low speed stuff so I missed that Chris. Don't get me wrong, it's an absolute weapon in the right hands I'm sure (not mine though ) and I really really really like the look of the R version - but in my short experience (20mins) it paled next to the burbling black beast
