They've moved from Castrol as the supplier now, but obviously the recommendations are still valid. For the older boxers they recommended ActEvo 20w50 mineral oil. I believe ActEvo is no longer available but any modern good quality 10w50 or 20w50 that exceeds SG rating will be ok.

Don't however be tempted by Halfords classic 20w50 it's for ancient old crap british Leyland cars and the ilk :)

Like steve says. A good quality mineral 20/50. Harley Davidson is good.

Here's the last big thread on it. Happy reading.

As an extra thing, whilst the oil preference may change, for me I'd not consider putting any other filter than OEM on purely because there's so many fakes out there and the potential for damage is huge compared to the cost

Thanks for that I had seen GTX 20w 50 recommended for a 850 boxer engine but I needed to double check it before oil and filter change, I am tempted in buying a HiFlo oil filter rather than a genuine filter, for the transmissions I found that some use 75w90 gl5 oil in winter and 90 sae gl5 summer ??

ActEvo is now Power 1 'Power Release'!

Regards,
Russ.
It started badly, it tailed off a little in the middle and the less said about the end the better, but apart from that it was excellent.
