Hi, I've been on the fringe for a while but this is my first posting, I live in Barry (What's occurring? I hear you say) and currently have an R1100rs and a Triumph Daytona T595. A good friend of mine has a 2004 r1100s Boxer Cup Randy Mamola edition which has just 860miles recorded on it, He's talking about selling it and I am interested, what do you guys reckon it's worth?
My only concern is with such a low mileage I'd be bothered about piling up miles and devaluing it but I'd not want to have it without enjoying it.

860 miles !! Wow! he obviously wasn't bothered about enjoying it then?

Depends how much he is willing to part with it for but unless you are going to really pile the miles on I wouldn't worry about it.

As for value? Who knows? The trouble with a bike with so little mileage is that it tends to be a collects bike. There is a Red White and Blue Boxercup up for sale with 940 miles on it at a dealers for something like £10,425 but they are dreaming. Standard mileage BCR's are going for around £5 to 5.5K so I would guess that £6.5 to 7.0K would be top price. At the end of the day it is still a 11 year old bike.

Just buy it

Chances are - your pal will not want to see £4,000 in depreciation for something that he hasn't used - so I think he will be an "indignant seller"......

But - unless he finds someone else who sees it as a must-have objet d'art - then I can see him hanging on to it to save face.

It's worth a max of £5,500 to my mind - and even that is a stretch. I can't see the worth in an 1100s costing more than a pristine 1200s (unless the 1200s is that shonky yellow-custard model

)

This isn't a bike with classic styling - it's more of a "pig in knickers"

If you buying it to ride rather than as a collector (who should all be shot) then I wouldn`t pay more because its low mileage.

These bikes take more than a bit of running in, they perform so much better and are nicer to ride with 12K plus miles on them, I bought one with 12K on, sold it with 20K on it and the engine/gearbox was better when it went....

Unless you have nothing to compare it to, an 860 mile BCR may be a little disappointing, initially anyway, and not worth any extra cost over `normal` mileage BCr`s

Al, the cheap fairing panel I won on the bay for £11 is in that "shonky yellow" - is that why I got it so cheap?

He can ask for it what he wants. RWB R1100S Boxercup up for grabs at a mere £10480. Yeah right.

Realistically more like £5500 to £6000 if in mint condition with all the paperwork to support the mileage. Best thing to with a R1100S is to ride it. Then they don't go wrong.
