Real life power numbers
Does any know what the true numbers are for a standard R1200s road bike at the back wheel? I've seen what BMW quote for this, but I'm guessing that's at the crank? What have others seen with thier bike on a dyno? I've had a PC 5 fitted on mine and mapped. Would be interested to know what power figure I should be looking for?

I seem to recall seeing figures even lower than 105 eyore but I couldn't find the graphs last night. Had a scan around and you can find lots of figures for modified bikes with exhaust and PC in the 115 region. Pretty easy to make some significant improvements to stock.eyore wrote:Quite high losses through the transmission and shaft. I'd guess the lower of Herbs figures would be nearerer the mark.
The trouble with dyno figures is they vary considerably. Only really useful for comparing the same bike, on the same dyno with the same operator.

Just found this old thread from 2012 which is quite interesting.

Showing 105 with an akra, although at the time I commented that the Hilltop dyno was thought to read low compared to other dyno's.
I gave consideration to having this done as I only live a few miles from Hilltop, but there is always something of higher priority to spend my money on.

My 12S put out 112hp. Dobeck fuel controller installed, Akro full Ti system. I think we started with 108hp.
My HP2 put out 122hp. Power Commander V installed, Akro pipe. I think we started with 118hp.
Both bikes mapped on the same dyno, same tuner, but a couple of years apart.
Don't forget, each dyno will be different, so just use these numbers as a ballpark figure.
Cheers
