Stickers

Post by dave the german »

Not sure if this is the right section but here goes
Can someone with an '04 BCR check the bellypan stickers for me? Are the sponsor stickers identical on each side? Getting my genuine bellypan re sprayed and putting new stickers on. Looking at the parts nos they are different for left and right but more importantly one side is about £20 dearer than the other side

Not sure about an 04 BCR but the decals on an 02 BCR are not all the same size from one side to the other.

Thanks all. Al, I used the same supplier as Chris for my copy bellypan but want to put originals on my original bellypan.

Mitch, the original stickers can still be bought from BMW but the sponsor stickers come as a set not as individual stickers. I can get a laser vinyl cut sticker for you but it might look a bit odd

I reckon even the keenest BCR fan - would fail to notice that the decals weren't BMW Issue, and at least with the copies (like Chris got) - they are fresh vinyl and not sat in a warehouse for years.

The 'original' stickers are not stickers as such but are transfers (like you used to put on your Airfix models). they have a clear film covering the total decal area, with the logo printed on the underside.

The cost is outrageous. Something like £220 a set.

You'd think after all this time they would have a sale on old parts :)

I bought a set of vinyl ones for about £20 and as Al says, you would be hard pressed to notice the difference. The tiny dots in the Castrol logo cannot be achieved perfectly with vinyl so it tends to end up being a solid block. Also getting the thin parts of the Metzeler elephants trunk to adhere off the backing paper can be traumatic if I recall.

So they must come as a block - I intended to use the vinyl copy stickers for the BMW Motorrad and use original for the sponsors. About £150 for the sponsors stickers. Might use vinyl curt as I've since agreed to buy an Akra for my 12s since posting

£150!

That's all I paid for my spare (like new) BCR original bellypan! :D

You'll be scared to ride it, at this rate!

You got a bargain there Al. The guy spraying mine has a spare - he made his BCR into the sidecar that has been shown here sometime ago. He turned down £400 from Motorworks and it wasn't much better than mine. The vinyl cut is getting more attractive - and they have them on file so I know I can get them in a day or two

Cheers Steve, that might be worth a punt - the genuine sponsor stickers are £170 for both sides!!!! I was going to use them and leave the bellypan off as I bought a Ricambi Weiss glass fibre belly pan and I've had that sprayed and stickered up with vinyl cut jobbies

Blimey
For the kind of money you guy's are talking you can buy a vinyl cutting machine and enough material to see you to the end of your days.
