North wales

Post by hobbit »

Hi

Going to North Wales with a mate and our better halves next week, staying at the Wild Pheasant as every one on here seems to give it good reviews.

Any advice on what to see where to go, as the wives will be on back will have to have some sight seeing thrown in, any particular roads to ride, only time I have been in north Wales before is through to Anglesey, so all suggestions welcomed.

Cheers

Gavin

You could do worse than by following one of the Boxertrix weekend routes. I'm sure you could find the route from previous weekends using the search function.

Loads of great routes around that area. Hope the weather is kind

I may still have some of my routes in gdb format (garmin)

I'll have a look when I get home tonight, I could send you any that I have, a lot of them start from the WP.

Hobbit,

The whole of the Cambrian Coast is fantastic. Don't know where you are riding up from but

1. A44 from Rhayader to Aberystwyth is one of the best roads in the world. Looks great this time the year, i was there last week.
2. Ride the A44 to Aberystwyth but also look out for the detour to Devils Bridge. The views are superb.
3. Harlech Castle - magnificent. Head North on the Coast Road and follow the A496 to Blanau Ffestiniog .. and have a laugh at how wide it is (not).

Remember distances are small in that part of the world but roads are all twisty so average speed is lower. Be careful of 'keen' Plod and ARAF means slow !

hi Steve

friends dropped out at last minute as her father ended up in hospital.

forecast for Monday and Thursday was good, (travel days)looked crap for Tuesday and wednesday, so ended up going in car, best of all we saw about 2 minutes of rain. i think tha twe were lucky as went to Port merrion and then about 1 mile outside of village roads were very wet, but ok where we are.

Roads were good so definetly a return on bike.

Cheers

Gavin
