PSA: Bobbins

Post by slparry »

I've just got some new Brembo Oro disks for my K (which are the same as on my BoxerCup)... bit of a bargain at £140 the pair compared to the OEM price which ISTR is circa £500 a pair.

BMW no longer sell the bobbins and wavy washers separately, as all their OEM Brembo disks now come with pre pressed bobbins.

Motorworks still have them in stock at the moment. Given the wavy washers are an occasional wear item it's a bit heavy of the mother ship to expect us to purchase an entire disc for worn bobbins or washers!

Where did you get them from Steve as I need a rear disc and fitting bolts for the wheel I had from you.

I got them from here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291011957738? ... EBIDX%3AIT

there's another source here too

the rear ones are

Shit

Wish I'd found Carpimoto before I shelled out for a pair of EBC discs at £90 a pop...

Thanks Steve , I'd been pricing (ebc ) discs locally , but hopefully I've located a pair for 2/3 of the price,

edit , Steve the discs you ordered include washers and bobbins? edit again
On the carpimoto site add 1 in front of the 68 ***** part number and it includes the fittings or purchase the fitting kit separately.

Out of interest, ought the Brembo Serie Oro's to be an improvement over the renownedly useless stoppers on the R100RS? (A bike made to go, but not stop...)

I do like Carpimoto's sales terms "cash in advance" and for those who still don't get it: "banknotes" :D ...
