Sorting out some bits and bobs on the old girl prior to sale.
The RH heated grip packed up in the Alps last year. I've got a new one to fit but can't get the old one off. The service manual simply says: 1/ remove bar end weight (not there cos that fell off in France ) 2/ remove the little plastic cover over the throttle cable seat 3/ remove grip assembly. Well, I did this and the bugger ain't moving. There's a few mil. of lateral movement then definitely a hard stop. Also removed the the cover which holds the RH switchgear - still no good.
Hi M2k. Forgot to mention that I'd already removed the throttle cable nipple from its seat (yes, a faff). I'm also aware that it's the whole assembly that comes off. I've tried rotating the grip through its entire travel and pulling, but it will not shift
I seem to remember when I fitted my heated grips that there is a bit of the RH controls that needs to be removed but wasn't entirely obvious....seem to remember it is underneath the bars. Once this is removed it is possible to turn the throttle tube to be point where it can be released from the grips.
Take a good look around the assembly in the morning.....then I am sure it'll be clear
Just make sure you've taken off all the plastic bits you need that surround it. I can remember if it's all the way forward or back to remove it, but it's an extreme angle it won't make with the throttle cable in. I'm not sure I have any pictures of when I did mine but I'll take a look.

There is a small plate on the underside of the housing ISTR, held on by 2 screws - summit to do with the lever assembly. I'll have to look at it tomorrow after work now. Just got in from an over-nighter and it's persisting down
Another question: where is the connector for the grip heating element hidden? I suspect it's under the fuel tank. Not obvious from the service manual pics

Though I couldn't find any pictures the wire lengths from the grips and the aux look/fusebox led me to put the connectors under the fuel tank when I fitted the heated grips

Mike you can always do an inplace repair of the existing grip
With the benefit of a decent torch I spotted the tab which needs to be perfectly aligned with the corresponding slot in the plastic throttle cable housing. Even then it took a good tug. And yup, the heated grip connectors are under the fuel tank. Fitted now and working nicely. Thanks for the help all
Now I've just got to fabricate a suitable bracket for the horns. The one supplied snapped near Orange last year. Been temporarily bodged on since then
Oh, and then there are the rear indicators... They work fine but look like cheapo Ebay Chinese jobs - mainly because they're cheapo Ebay Chinese jobs
