HORN

Post by f90x »

I had a Stebelus Magnum on my 1100S and I foolishly let it go with the bike. I cannot find one in the UK 'and' I think it's going to be in excess of £30 for a new one. Does anyone know where I can get one.

I got mine from Nippy Normans but they don't seem to list them now, but are listing some Fiamm replacements

I seem to remember reading that they no longer make them due to too many faults and complaints. I had two ,on two previous bikes and found them superb. Dunno where you could fit one (if you could get it) on an R12S though?

I have just discovered that they went out of business a while back (bummer) they are supposed to back up and running now but with precious little availability in the UK. Very annoying.

It's for the Harley Eyore and I know you're not interested in that ;-)

Try AGM, Spalding. They are stocked there I believe.

From what I remember the Stebel didn't do so well in a comparison test. Didn't stop me from buying one. Here is the comparison.

Give these a try. The low price belies their quality. I had them on my 11S and they were more than adequate. They give a very loud, attention grabbing but pleasing twin-tone note and, at less than 7 quid (P+P inc) they're a real steal.

Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.

It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Wot he said :D
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity

Yeah I've seen those. They're great but too big. The chrome Harley guys use them but it would be out of place on mine. Cheers.

That's a thought Nick. Finding a home for two might be a problem though. I've actually ordered a single Fiamm AMS80 blaster high tone. It's half of a set but there's a couple of guys on youtube have fitted them and they seem quite impressive. It's a snail type about the same size as my old Stebel.

Certainly cheap enough - er, sorry, can't say cheap any more can you? Affordable...

Nick, did you fit these in the standard position? If so, must've been a squeeze? And did you utilise the supplied relay? Cheers.

Hi Mike, Yes, after removing the original horn I managed to fit them either side and just in front of the headstock. As I say this was on my 11S and you're right, it was a squeeze. I also used the relay but that's very small and I think I located it near the left-side fuse box.

I actually liked them that much that I bought another set to re-place the 'pip-squeak' horn on my Honda but that's proved impossible. There really is nowhere to mount them (unobtrusively) on my present bike.

I found a couple of pic's from when I re-painted the forks. If you look closely you can just make out the red/black horns and the relay.

Nick.

Nice one Nick, thanks. For that money I think I'll give 'em a go.
