Carbon Head cover - repaired

Post by fatnfast »

Just thought I would share a couple of pics after a superb repair by these guys:

The cost to replace the cylinder head cover with a genuine item is pretty steep, and the 'copys' that you can get via ebay need a fair bit of adjustment to make them fit correctly (I'll post later on how I got these to fit).

Heres the cover before any repairs. I had already turned the metal slider around to hide the scuffs on that part:

And here it is after the repair:

You can make out the slightest of marks, but the picture makes it look far worse than it is. Unless you are right up close, you would not spot it.

Cost, £60 all in with postage. They basically polished the laquer coating back as far as they could, then recoated it, polished it again and job done. A good company to deal with and despite my 'small job' it was dealt with really well and turned around in just 4 days. They do work for the likes of Lotus and F1 teams and actually commented that the BMW cover was not made all that well with the carbon weave being stretched to much in places! Very happy and a massive saving on new :D .

I think I prefer it with the scratches,
Battle scars have kudos.

Agreed if there from heroic corning taking out a couple of GSXR's on the track, but these were from the previous owner dropping the bike doing a U-Turn - no kudos there :(

I know we have a recommended products section but would it be possible to have a section or sub section with headings such as carbon repairs, wheel repairs etc? Apologies if this is being a bit farty but I'm really lazy when it comes to doing searches
