Front Wheel Bearings
Bummer! An advisory on the front wheel bearings at the MoT this morning. No play, but grinding, so do them ASAP.
Any recommendations of where to get quality bearings, online or near Milton Keynes, without spending next months salary on BMW dealer prices (I fell foul of that with brake pads - never again)?
Cheer.

i got mine from BMW but dont recall them being really pricey - i had to order the seals though, i think they are slightly different sizes on one side to the other.
Biggest issue i had was removing the first bearing. There is a sleeve on the inside which makes it really difficult to drive out the opposite bearing as you cant really get anything on the lip.
In the end, i cut through the inner race with my dremmel, took out the sleeve and knocked out the bearings as normal. I assume that BMW have an extractor to get the bearings out - i did enquire but was told it would take them 3 weeks to look at it!
Maybe other boxers may have a better tip - someone suggested welding a large nut to the inner race and knocking the bearing out that way - either way, it will take a little extra time
