Anyone near this part of the world and able to recommend a decent place to stay for a couple nights around 24 May?
My brother, a couple of other mates daft enough, and me, are heading for a day of Trials riding with this lot http://www.inchperfecttrials.co.uk/
Dont want to do the chain hotel thing, so a nice wee hotel or B&B would be good, but definitely has to be in easy reach of food/beer, Bike parking would be a plus
Any recommendations for a nice route in from the north would be appreciated too, Thanks.

Well the obvious choice is the Inn at Whitewell if you’re feeling flush http://www.innatwhitewell.com/
Not a lot else around there to be honest, you could find some cheaper accommodation in Kirkby Lonsdale, a nice little town with lots of pubs and B&bs , or there is the Whoop Hall on the edge of the town, www.whoophall.co.uk
you can usually get a good BBEM deal for around £50 PPPN
and it’s a nice ride through the Trough of Bowland to Whitewell
I don’t know Clitheroe at all, sorry.

I would stay clear of Preston if at all possible tbh, and even at those prices, once you have added an evening meal you are close to the whoop Hall, ignore their stated prices, we are staying there in october, and it only took a quick call to achieve the £49.95 dinner, bed and breakfast deal. plus the town is cheaper still if you just want b&b and access to local chippies or takaways or pub/restaurants. Honestly, you would do better in Kirkby Lonsdale than Preston (no offence meant to any prestonians on here)

TBH it isn't really in Preston, but on the junction of A59 and A677 between the M6 and Blackburn. As such you are in the middle of nowhere. So unless you drive/ride for food then you are stuck there. There are a couple of pubs within a mile or so, though the roads aren't really good for walking along. If you do stop there then the New Hall Tavern (PR5 0XA) does good food and real beer.
As a 'chain' hotel it'll probably be OK......your orignal post said not a chain?. I have been there during the day for a course but that was a few years ago.
Thanks Steve, I called Whoop Hall, got DB&B for £65. Spoke to couple members of staff who hadn't heard of the rate you got, so you must have a nicer telephone voice than me or something

Right ho, on a whim, looks like brother and I will extend our trip with a visit to Donington for the SBK round,
Going to be hard to get accommodation this close to the event for Saturday/Sunday night, so might end up at the camp site.
Anyone else planning to go?
Dear Admin, Can we change this thread to Days Out, SBK Donnington 25/26th May?
