I have a BMW Sportintegral helmet, which is great, light, comfortable, quiet etc.
When I got home from the bike show on Friday I was taking it off and I noticed something sharp behind my ear.
When I had a look I noticed that there is a small webbing strap that loops round the main chin strap and goes back to a screw that attaches it to a plastic rivet towards the back of the helmet on each side.
It's function seems to be to stop the main chin straps from moving forward, but somehow the screws have broken off from the plastic rivet, on both sides of the helmet.
I am unsure what to do about this, it obviously doesn't need to be that strong or it wouldn't be fixed to a plastic rivet. But it must be there for a reason.
I'm tempted to just cut the loops and remove them, they don't affect the performance of the chin strap, they just stop it moving forward too much.
I have another (older) helmet the same and the straps are fine on that one.
Any thoughts?

Like all schuberth helmets I think the function of this strap quoting from the manual is " the helmet cannot pivot off the head from behind"..Bender wrote: I'm tempted to just cut the loops and remove them, they don't affect the performance of the chin strap, they just stop it moving forward too much.

I'm not sure how or if other helmets achieve this without those straps?
