That's where i first got the idea
but i don't want anything as fancy as that if it can be done with off the shelf parts that will do i realise i will have to make some sort of support brackets but thats not the end of the world

To this you drill approx 16 to 20 holes into the air snorkel directly over the air filter of at least 12mm diameter. Through this lack of air is prevented effectively.
For the use on a race track I recommend to remove the complete air filter. A K&N filter does not take any improvement in against the series part. Just as expensive larger air snorkels are desirable only at engines tuned very strongly. "

If you cut up the existing snorkel (several people on here including myself have done this) you'll see just how rediculously narrow the airway is at the section where it passes the rear corner of the battery.. Mine even had a bee wedged in it.

Blackhole Racing have developed independant twin K&N intakes. They found that the system required a variable fuel pressure regulator (probably the Malpasso) and quite a bit of rolling road testing. I think they fitted larger injectors too. It is part of their comprehensive, improved breathing system, which began with their custom 2 - 1 stainless exhaust.
The BB instructions advise 20 X 12mm holes to allow air through the snorkel. That opened area, 240mm, is more than the air box opening! If that idea works, is it time to put the original snorkel back on having given it some excessive ventilation holes and recover some cash by selling the Lennies snorkel?

I have done a lot of mods to my my bike in the 12 years of owning (most of) it, and I carry on doing so in fits and starts. This includes most of the ones mentioned in this thread.
The best improvement to the bike without doubt is suspension and brakes in that order, there's no question for me.
Follow that with a bit more involved chassis work (yokes and altered telelever, torque arm).
The engine mods work okay. Yep there's an extra ten or so horsepower in there and you can feel and use that difference on the road, but it costs a lot of money and I'm fairly settled that a big part, maybe the biggest part, of the benefit in engine work is the satisfaction of having done it.
One of the best mods to the bike would be to lose some weight. I'd like to try one with the lighter Schnitzer/PFM wheels. They ought to be on the shopping list but man, they are ugly, and looks count (which is my way of saying that none of this is particularly rational and so, when Mike for example makes an objective observation about whether or not these mods are worth it, you have to say, "yeah, you've got a point").

Holes in the snorkle i'm not sure on that one i think Sandbar tried this one on the dyno and found it no help.
The mods i have made do make for a better bike to ride probably down on top end power but it has made a noticable difference to mid range grunt and that is what i have been working for
If i wanted a fast bike i would have a Jap four not a german twin!
The problem i have is knowing when to stop but i get as much enjoyment from modding the bike as riding it [probably an age thing]
