New Tyres

Post by tomboy »

Hi,
Time for some new rubber on 1100S, have been running Michelin Pilot Road 2CT for some time now, and rate them highly, now thinking of trying the Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact, not much difference in price, supposed to be very good in the wet, any one tried them? if so, would apreciate any feedback. Trouble with bying new tyres, unless your loaded, your stuck with them for a long time. Any other tyre sugestions?

Cheers,

Tomboy.

I have Conti Road Attacks on mine and can't fault them give them time to warm up and they grip suprisingly well and turn in nicely for a touring tyre far better than the bridgstones i had on it last time

Bridgestone BT023.
Fine in the wet and the dry.
Just had a new front put on and forgot to tell the guy what I run the pressure at.
It was twitchy as hell and felt awful and until I dropped it to 29 psi.
Next time around will be PR3's as the write ups are excellent.

I think the Michelin 2CT are about as "racy" as I would want to go for the 1100s - and probably resent the low mileage they would last.

Compare prices for Pilot Road 2 with Pilot Road 3 - and see if you can justify the extra for the 3s? If not - go for the 2s - they are great tyres.

Alternatively - Dunlop Roadsmarts?

Pirelli Angel ST if they are available on special offer? Need to be sig cheaper than PR2 to tempt me, though.

Me too Dai, from the special offer M&P or Busters where doing on them, I have been very impressed with them!

Oops! forgot about them - they are available at some great prices, and get good feedback. How many miles do you reckon out of a rear?

not sure really, I think it's looking around my normal 4000 miles or so ... I never get more than 4000 miles and I barely touch the throttle

I was looking for Comti road attacks too - NCT had them on tinternet for about £173 ish but when I 'phoned they quoted £186. M & P had them for £170 but said they would need a few weeks to get them. Finally ended up with MIchelin Pilot Roads for £156 - I'll see what they're like next week

Thanks for the input guys, but I get confused with choices of more than one, you know the sort of thing, jam or marmalad? tea or coffee? milk or cream? so going for the new metz, working on the theory, if you buy a pair of wellies when it,s raining, the sun will come out. Will post my verdict of them as the miles go on. By the way, Pilot 2CT, 5000 mile rear, 7000mile front.
thanks again guys.

You have hit the nail on the head everyone needs something different

Even if all our bike's had the same shoc's tyres etc we would all set them up differently as we all ride differently

I remember when the dual compound bridgstone O2O's came out everyone was raving about them, so i fitted them to my GPz750 when new they seemed great, but the bike handled like crap after about 1000 miles and the front was bald on the sides by 1800 the rear lasted 3000 i seem to remember fitting Azzaro's after and all was well again

I had Bridgstone trail wings on a Honda dominator and they were great gripped and lasted well

My old FJ1100 had bridgstones as well can't remember which but they were ok no more, i later fitted a pair of Conti touring tyre's again i can't remember which but it was here when i started to fit Conti's as a matter of course
