Is yours a 2001 model Steve ?BlueBoxer wrote:This looks to have happened to mine last night. Driving down m6 and I lost drive, thought it had jumped out of gear, nothing, no matter what gear I selected. Rolled to a stop on the hard shoulder. Strange rumbling from the gearbox. RAC had me home in 45 minutes.
I'll have a look tonight. Is this an economical repair on a slightly ratty r1100s?

RGM fixed it.
9 hours labour @ £48 ph = £432
parts = £360
total = £792
Clutch plate.

Shaft

Trawling through the net it seems a common problem. It's half put me off the bike, and I won't be buying another BMW until I'm convinced they can put them together reliably. I can't be bothered changing it at the moment, but if this happens again, I'll get rid.
