Maxxis Tyres

Replaced the rear yesterday with 3400miles recorded. I normally fit pairs but front is fine so fitted a matching rear and the handling feels more normal now.

Never again.
I've only done something like 2-2.5k miles since I bought the bike, complete with a fresh Maxxis of some description.
It's wearing unevenly, with the central tread worn completely in places, but not in others.
Needs replacing, anyway - that's really very poor wear.
I have an 023 on the front, but struggle to justify the cost of an 023 rear, so I think I'll go with a Conti Road Attack and just hope it's not too badly mis-matched to the front. (The plan is to go to Road Attacks on both ends eventually, but I can't afford a full set right now)

I've got the Maxxis Supermaxx "sports touring" tyres on a non-boxer sports bike. I can't fault their road manners, confidently sticky feeling in wet or dry but, as Twinspark says with his, they do seem to be wearing out like there's no tomorrow. I wouldn't mind if it was the super-sticky jobbies but they're supposed to be the 'touring' tyres. So my conclusion would be: nice when they're new but a false economy really.
