+1 for early vfr800s being rubbsh, well not rubbish, uninvolving.
Kawas are much more exciting to ride. My Zx9r was great. Mrs C said it was remarkably comfortable for pillions.

Well the weight of those bikes on the list surprised me. 13 years ago I would have not batted an eyelid at a 300kg bike. But now....

Is the GS really my best option ?:shock: :shock:

It does seem two up riding and lightweight are diverse :(

The acre of screen in front of you helps. A fly screen can only do so much.

The weight above is for the later model FJR1300. Earlier models weigh 268 kg with a full tank of petrol.

It's still heavier than a R1100S, but a much better 2 up touring tool, more power, better fuel consumption, a bigger tank, and much better finish then the R1100S. Change the rear shock, it's poor, for a Hagon or better, and it transforms the bike. I've had mine 10 years and 60K miles of my ownership, 72k in total. IF you can find a looked after early model, it'll be a lot of bike for what you pay for it.

As I have a choice, I would not tour two up on the R1100S, it's not in the same league.
It is easier to get out of the garage :)

That's an impressive looking R1200R.

But - I'd still maybe go for the GS, if only for the ability to take the BMW Adv luggage or aftermarket boxes with a higher weight capability.

I think the GS will also provide more weather protection to your lower body and legs.

what about a K1200LT, has the reverse gear on to get it out the garage and the luggage is built in, oh and it even has a lit vanity mirror in the top box lid for the missus. or yourself. :roll: :lol:

I agree.
I mean a Pan European isn't a sports bike, but that doesn't mean you can't do a track day on one and not have fun.

PS.
Would that bellypan on the R1200R above fit the 1200S ?
