OK, so thanks to all who have given me some very good and sound advice.

I've read all the posts, followed all the threads, compared all the specs and looked at all the prices.

At the end of it all I came to two conclusions.

1. The most sensible thing pricewise to do would be to buy a Fazer.
2 ...

I hear what is being said about Fazers & Sprints etc but I'm selling my 2006 K1200GT because I don't need that kind of speed or power or luggage toting ability anymore. Now I want a fun bike with soul. I can't have a Guzzi MGS01 on the road but now I think about it, it does look a bit similar to the ...

Yes, yes, yes, give me more. This is the sort of response I was looking for. Blackal, read your writup and followed the thread through. I wasn't expecting the comfort to be very good, so that's a bonus. All the other comments were positive and most importantly - it sounds like FUN. I'm now ...

hjr1100s & Blackal

HJR1100S, I read your writeup (which was great) but it raised a few questions. What happens at 6000 rpm. Does the power kick in very fast? I've ridden an ST1200 and a GS1200. Is the engine very different. I love the GS engine but the seat height is a problem. and anyway, I really enjoyed the r1100s ...

OK, I'm going about this the wrong way. You guys are being too honest and I am not being honest enough. Let me start again.

I'm changing my bike. My head says I should get an 1100S, preferably an older one so I can save some money to spend on white goods for my wife. My heart says I want a 1200S ...

R1100S or R1200S

I haven't had a chance to test the 1200 yet so how does it compare to the 1100? I can see that the ergonomics are a little bit more sporty but how about real life useability on UK roads? Is the power too peaky or ok. How abrupt is the power increase at 6K upwards.

Yes, I know I just need to go and ...

Welcome (back).

I think you may find the BCR already has the shorter torque arm and you need a longer one to lower it. So you may as well just get a plain old S, unless you fancy the nice paint and carbon goodies?

Sorry, my mistake. Yes I would need the longer arm to lower it. Not sure about the ...

I've played about with intercoms a bit and to answer some questions:

If you carry a pillion you need one - it really changes things in a very positive way.

Autocom stuff is really good with clear speech above the ton. Can't comment on gadgets other than GPS which is clear as a bell with special ...

North Wales to Sligachan (Isle of Skye) on an MZ250 loaded up with two peoples winter ice climbing and camping gear (my mate hitched). Took about 16 hrs because I was a learner and couldn't use the motorways. Lost the kickstart lever on the way back and had to stop on downhill slopes. Aye lad, them ...

Thanks for the replies. Hope to get more involved when I actually get the 1100s. I'm looking around at what's available at the moment. can't yet decide between a BCR (a bit flash?? and would need a GS strut to lower it a bit), a two color newer 1100s or an older one which I can bring up to spec ...

Ok, thanks for that. I just checked the ohlins catalogue and they look a fair bit different. Shame because my K1200RS ohlins are mint.

Ohlin shock conversion question

Hi,

I have a set of Ohlin shocks from a 1999 K1200RS. Does anyone know if they can be converted reasonably cheaply to fit on an R1100S?

Any advice appreciated.

Returning rather than new

Hi all,

I used to be a member somewhere around 2002 when I had my yellow 'S' with lazer system & chip. The better half wanted more touring, so traded for a K1200RS. Added a pipe and ohlins and it was a fantastic two - up bike. Then came a 1200ST followed quickly by a new K1200GT. Now the better ...
