CF Hugger Alteration

Post by D Man »

Seeking advice on CF alteration. Can CF be worked with? My hugger is hitting the cat bypass, was wondering if I could cut a section out of the hugger. If that is possible, will the edges need to be sealed after making the cut?
Thanks.

Hi D Man,

I cut a corner out of my Ilmberger hugger a few years back with no problem. Had to do it as with the Staintunes double pipes there was no room.

Yes you can. Use a Dremel or similar. If you need to remove a lot, then use a face mask because of the carbon dust.

Make sure that you are only removing part of the carbon fibre and not part of the support system.

There is no need to seal the edges - it will not corrode. After all, most other manufacturers do not do any sealing or coating at all. If you want to put something on the edge, then the cheapest way is to use clear nail varnish.
