Garmin to canbus?

Can anyone tell me the best way to wire my zumo 550 into the canbus loom on my 1200s? I know that I can wire it straight to the battery, but would rather have it switched. Have done some research, and it seems most of the r1200 series (gs, r, st, rt) have a satnav connector on the loom, which you can connect to using the bmw repair kit connector, But I cant find this on mine :(
I have found a spare connector on the right hand side of the front fairing stay, but it's a different connection( the same type as the tb sensor )

any clues?

Cheers

I wired mine through the said connector but it still kept tripping out so I reverted to my original set up which was a wire soldered to the live feed for the front hesdlsmp bulb works just fine now.

Bob,
Did you solder it on to the connector or shave some of the plastic sleeve and solder it in there? And where did you wire the negative?
I ask as I feel nervously confident enough to attach a socket into the indicator shroud to plug my garmin in there and would like the wiring not to look like a ball of spaghetti

Bob
Which connector are talking about Bob? the satnav one on your loom, or the other 2 pin on that I've found but am unsure of?

Anyhoo, a bit more research and I've found it :happy7: Hiding on the left hand side, but covered with a protective cap, 's bleeding obvious now
So all I have to do now is solder the repair conector to the garmin lead, plug it in to the loom and bingo, switched conection to the loom, which will maintain power to the zumo for approx 15 mins after I turn off the ignition. sorted :D

cheers
