Rear Shock Removal

Post by plivez »

Hi Guys,

I am in the process of removing the rear shock from my 1100s.

I have removed the bottom bolt without any problem.

I have removed the nut from the top, but the bolt is not keen to shift. Should it slide / push out or is it threaded?

From memory it 'should' just slide out! Definition of 'slide' covers a range of force and swearing.

Cheers

And put plenty of anti seize on when it goes back, commonish problem apparently with the top bolt shearing.

And if it's not too late already - put the nut back on a few turns before giving it a clout. That stops the end threads getting mashed up. I find 1/2" extension bars good for this sort of thing instead of trying to get into the bolt with a hammer and you don't risk damaging screwdriver tips.
