Your holiday photos

Post by Karlos »

I was thinking  that now winter is closing in and not many of you guys have the chance to get out on your bikes, what about showing photos of your last holidays to brighten everyone up on the long cold dark nights?
I shall start the ball rolling with a link (I know I´m crap at posting photo´s) to my Flickr account. I have added a few more piccies from Asturias for you all to peruse.

So, the rest, as they say is up to you lot..

Un saludo

Heres mine, most of them a bit boring but it was one of my best holidays ever as it was my first bike trip abroad. The first of many.

A great trip to lose your touring virginity. It's took me nearly 10 years to get permission from the domestic authority to be away long enough to get down to the south of France.

I'll post some pics of some of my previous jaunts as soon as I get them upload to a hosting service. Don't expect the same quality as yours and Karlos though :(

Darkness,

When I get back from a holiday I can never remember where I took most of my photographs. I'm not organized enough to take notes. The Garmin GPS devices will take tracks, but they start to overwrite after a day or so, and I do not carry a laptop around with me, so for a week away, the tracks are useless.

So I bought one of these
Waterproof, and I can drop the tracking rate to 90 seconds, which should be good for a 3 week trip.

GPSBABEL or Garmin Mapsource will download the tracks.

Sync the camara clock, and the Garmin clock, and I know exactly where and when the photo's were taken, once I get round to downloading the tracks and the photos. I also get the speed and altitude.

With a bit of twiddling in Google Earth, I can link tracks and photos. :P

Hi Steve, pity we didn't know you were so close to us on your recent trip. You were only 200 miles from this magnificent Chateu which is only 30-minutes from oor wee hoose.

You've got some great pictures there Nick. it looks like it was a great trip. How did you get underneath the Millau. I couldn't see how to get down there.

Rob, that chateu looks great. I'm guessing this is bretagne

We went over the bridge heading south and took the first exit off the autoroute after going over the bridge. If I remember correctly its the D999 and head back to Millau.

After a few miles going in a big loop you come across the visitor centre underneath the bridge which is worth a stop to see how it was built.

I've done most areas on France either on the bike or on family holidays and the area to the east of Millau, the Cevennes and Gorge du Tarn is probably my favourite.

i got to the visitor centre on the exit just after the bridge on the right as you travel north and i stayed in the town overnight but couldn't see how to get underneath. all the signs in the town sent us to the high level visitor centre. never mind, i'm sure i'll go again.

Just to prove that you can just as much fun and fantastic scenery without going over the water, here's 2007's in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

We lucky b*ggers went the first week of June just before the summer deluge started.
