Michelin Pilot Powers are popular. I get 4.5k out of a rear, some get 6k+.
Good grip and steer really quick. You'll have no chicken strips on the rear after about 100 miles or less - they are really sure-footed.

Metzeler M1s are rubbish - 2k miles max.

Peter (herman) has just got 9.5k out of a Road 2 rear and thought they felt good too. I'm sure he'll be along soon to give his views.

Michelin Pilot Road 2s definitly get my vote. Whilst I may not be hard on tyres (used to reckon on 6k or so from Bridgestone 020s) I stretched 10k from the Road 2s, Totally shot now but they did do 2 trips to Scotland, A Flash tour in France and the summer trip to Germany,Austria,Italy,Switzerland and France. No prizes for guessing which tyres I'll be buying next!!!

Peter.

M1s are sticky things. And yep, 2k and they are toast. Going for the Pilot Road 2s next.

Mich Pilot Powers I got 3k

Have used Pilot Road 2 on another bike and after abut 100 miles of hating them, they really came into their own

Can I ask why you hated them? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

First 100 miles teh bike felt totally like it was on marbles. Really inspired NO confidence but they suddenly came to and were then excellent.

I used them at teh Boxertrix wales weekend and they gripped really well

I got about 5.5k miles out of my last rear Pilot Power. It had gone a bit square by the time I replaced it but I've gone for another the same to match the front.

Same here. P.Road 2 do not turn in as fast as the P.Powers and that left the bike feeling a bit tame. Got used to it and now think the P.Road 2 are great.

I noticed that the bike feels very twitchy for the first few huncred miles too. Infact I was wondering if maybe they were just too sharp for my Deauville?!
But after a week they calmed down a lot and were totally predicatable.

I hope so cos the Pilot Road 2 tyres I had fitted this morning feel very vague at the moment.

Thanks,

I really liked the Pilot Powers on the 12S but I only got 2.5k miles out of them. The outer tread on the rear was gone! I was hoping I could nurse 4k miles out of some P Road 2s, but I was afraid of them being too "hard" and not having enough grip.

Oh, they grip alright!

Just like most have said, a couple of hundred miles not liking them / feeling unsure but then they do come on very well.
Im thinking of trying some on the cbr1200 powerful beasty, because the 021 bridgestones are spinning at will.

I got about 3.5K out my BT021, but this was probably with at least 0.5K down to the wear marker
