I've had a very quick search on this topic but can anybody give their firm opinion on different makes available for the R1100ss? I'm not after the cheapest but not really sure whether I need to run to the expense of carbon fibre as I'd probably get it painted in any case. Just want a reasonably engineered/crafted product.

Interested in this question too - a bellypan is on my shopping list. It seems to be a choice between lovely OE carbon fibre at monster money, lovely aftermarket carbon fibre at many hundreds, or just something much cheaper (& heavier) that'll need fitting/finishing & bracketry making - in other words, a 'project'. As ever, it's looking like the 'project' option for me - is there anything (probably on oohbay) that's just too tragic to bother with? thanks. Red Fokker note: I live in yorkshire too & make brackets.

Probably cheaper just getting it from the German maker?

They look pretty good and not too expensive when you look at the other ones on the market, made out of GF.

Al :D

(Luckily - I've got a mint spare BCR one for when the one on the bike [18,000 miles] gets chatty :thumbright: )

attn red fokker!
40 quid cheapy arrived from germany after 7 days, the fit is close and spot on - no shaping was needed - not what I expected at all!. It looks like a straight copy of the bmw boxercup item. The finish is fine on the sides, but the underneath (which you can't see when fitted) is uneven in places. It is accurately pre-cut for the sidestand, the front 2 vents are cut also. It's certainly not a heavyweight item, but the thickness is nice and consistent. it's even got a bit of reinforcement around the four mounting holes (which are marked, but not pre-drilled.) It needed sanding, but only to remove the moulding marks and key the paint. It looks fine sprayed up, but then again I have used Halfords black plastic bumper paint, which must be about as forgiving as turning the lights off.
There's no brackets at all, but the 4 mounting holes line up well with the centrestand frame holes at the rear, and the 10mm hole through the crankcase just in front of the oil filter. I used a couple of big rubber bungs in the centrestand holes for the back, and I made a couple of 1" dia nylon outriggers for the front. The front might be an inch low, but I don't know whether the OE front bracket is offset to raise the 'pan's mounting holes above the line of the crankcase hole.
...It didn't fall off on the way to work this morning...
You're welcome to come and have a look - I'm sure we've got enough bits left to sort you out with the brackets.

Sounds good r550. I'd definitely be interested in seeing it - either in the flesh or by photo (que the double entendres...). Which german ebayer did you buy it from? Can anyone tell me how the official boxercup belly pan is mounted?

...thanks for the advice - I'll try it tonight when I'll have some privacy and no disturbances.

...It worked last time, ahem!
