Just come back this evening from a 2 day trip round Loch Ness, Glencoe, Fort William area. Fantastic is not a good enough word to describe it, good weather, good roads and good company made it a memorable trip. What else made it a good trip was the newly fitted Rapid Dog bar risers, super comfy and almost vibrationless. But for every Ying theres a Yang, I discovered travelling above a certain speed, and against a head wind, the standard screen is worse than useless so Iv'e decided to go the full touring monty and fit a new higher screen. Can anyone recommend a make and model of screen they have tried or currently using?. Iv'e looked at MRA's web site but could not decide which style would suit the bike better, the Vario or touring or just the flipped type. I also see Motorworks do a higher screen, has anyone out there tried it and whats it like?

I use an Ermax, track them down on Google. I paid about £70 for a high screen in dark smoke (almost black). It sets off the black bike very nicely and it works a lot better than the standard screen especially if you have raised the bars.

Just a note to say that - yes - the roads and the scenery around there are wonderful. (Well, the roads are great when they aren't congested with tourist traffic). Have you ever tried going right round the top of Scotland? The roads get narrower but more deserted.

Sorry - no ideas about the screen.

I have a tall MRA, dont know what model, stock bars. It's better than the BMW/Wunderlich tall screen, as it does not craze around the mount holes and it is a bit taller. Great to get down behind on a long run. One problem you will have, now the bars are 25-30mm higher? The low angle of the screen means you require a much longer screen to gain any real height that will offer wind protection. You really want a more upright scren, such as the tourers have. The dilema - sports v. tourer.

We did the top end of Scotland in June this year when we went to John'o'Groats. We went from Pitlochry to Inverness crossed over to Ullapool on the A835, ( Fantastic road ), up to Durness where one of our band discovered he had shreded his Ducati's rear tyre and had to wait 5 hours for a break down truck. Accross the top to JOG where we stayed the night. Back down the next morning to Inverness, Fort William, Glencoe then on to Killin. Stayed there then back home to the Northeast next day. Sore bums but fantastic riding. Next trip were going to the west coast and Sky, can't wait!!.

Hi Cobbster, happy to hear that you enjoyed the trip. You will not be dissapointed when you visit the West Coast and Skye.

As regards the screens; I fitted the MRA a few months ago and it works very well. Its the model with the slide-up bit, which is very good at its job. I am always a tad concerned when leaving the bike parked that some bugger is going to unscrew and nick the top part!

The screen fits very well to the bike and is a good, solid piece of kit. The gradual tint towards the bottom, to almost pure black, is also a nice touch as it hides the dials etc.

I bought it directly from MRA and it arrived very well packaged within a couple of days.

I forget what it cost but it certainly wasnt dear and was well worth the money.

I would have no problem in recomending it to you.

Powerbronze have got a sale on (I think it is still on) and selling an Airflow screen for the 11S for about £35ish plus P+P.
The website says £49:50 but it still said that price when a leaflet from last weeks MCN (if it was not last week then the week before) showed the reduced price but can't remember when it ran out.

I love Durness - my favourite holiday destination.

Go right round Skye! And there are some cracking places to eat.
