A quote from a motorriding manual, the chapter about braking techniques:

Step 4. Squeeze the front brake lever like you'd squeeze the trigger of a gun - never grab it.
Now the question is, this one's for the fully adjustable, automatic kitchen machine, ....

American of course. No other country on the planet has such an obsession with guns. It's sound advise though.
