A nail that is

My flippin new tyre fitted on Saturday now has a nail right in the middle of the tread. Judging by the size of the head I reckon it's a long'un. It's not leaking.. yet.. but I don't want it letting me down when it's most inconvenient.

Bugger... Time to get the puncture kit out again I guess

Jason,
i once had a nail right in the middle of the tread at 500 miles on it. Got it plugged and did another 4000 miles and 4 track days, no problem.

Jason, I know how you feel mate. I got a new 020 a few months ago and I popped up to see a mate in Bolton the following day. With 60 miles on it I got what looked like the disc retaining pin from someones brake in the tyre. The thing was about 3" long and 3/16" dia. I took the wheel to my tyre guy expecting to have to shell out for a new one, but he said it was ok to plug it as there was very little damage to the the inside casing. The pin had made a clean entry, and I'd stopped almost immediately and removed it. It's still on the bike now but I'm going to change it before we go away on our Europe tour - just to be on the safe side.

Dave.
