Gents,

I have a '99T R1100S with ABS and the narrow rear wheel. I have the option of swapping some nicely painted wheels from a 99T non ABS bike and I need your advice about fitting. Will I be able to transfer my ABS sensor rings onto the non ABS wheels, or are the front left hand bolt posts a different height to cope with the thickness of the ABS ring? What about the rear (wide) non ABS wheel? Similarly would my ABS wheels fit on the non ABS donor bike?

No you won't,you can fit ABS wheels to a non ABS bike(I've done it) by adding 5mm spacers but to fit non ABS wheels to an ABS bike you need to have e'm machined.

get it machined - a 10 minute job for your local engineering shop - I'm not sure how much you'd remove but I'm sure someone here does. If you want to go down this route and noone does know, give me a shout. I have a 5.5" ABS rim on the back of the Rockster - I can tell you how high the pillars should be above the mating face of the rim or, if it is as simple as allowing for the thickness of the ABS ring, then I can do that even easier with a micrometer.

Keep circling mate, it's still twitchin'. Don't hold your breath though, since the deal was dependant on a swap of wheels between an ABS and a non ABS bike.
