Its not good news mate - refitting is not 'reversal of procedure' I'm afraid - the mirror is f*cked and cannot be refitted as you have to get the glass out in order to get the spring etc through and reattach the little nut on the end - and getting the glass out is IMPOSSIBLE

Good luck with that

You could always go retro - my old vespa only has a RH mirror - looks the part and the LH mirror would only really get used for checking for cyclists which are about the only thing it will overtake apart from stationary traffic

It would tie in with the S's peculiar asymmetry

Nice blue bike btw.

I did this once on an old Suzuki. I broke the glass, taped the bits back together, and had a local glass supplier cut a new mirror to match. It was a lot of hassle, and the replacement didn't really fit ideally, but it worked.

If you're skint repair it, othwerwise throw it away and buy another.

Bollocks!

Guess what I did last night...

Reminder:

When adjusting mirrors for tight motorcycle bay parking, NEVER adjust using mirror pod, ALWAYS use the arm.

I was adjusting the right hand mirror once I got onto the by-pass and the mirror head came off in my hand! So there I am, bike petering out, cold engine, with a mirror head in my right hand, pockets all flapped, press studded and zipped. Just dropped it behind a traffic island and recovered the throttle.
I now have a £11 BMW mirror bolted through the twistgrip mount hole. The real faring job costs £72. 'No, you really dont find many second hand ones in here sir'. - Motorworks quote.
I collected the mirror head, not even scratched, but havent thought of a suitable repair yet.

Thanks!

Though I *am* tempted to *try* and get the mirror out...or another one back in...I certainly will use some force if I actually buy another one.

Hi, Don't know if you'll be interested in replacement type mirrors for your bike but Busters do a natty pair for 50 squid. They have upto 50mm hole centres which I believe the 11S has.

Look at page 6 of their mirror section and its the second last item on the page.

Hope this helps,
Cheers Cobbster.

I got an old one from Motorworks... :-)

The old pod provided much fun down the pub last night...until a mate broke the glass (which I wanted to do).

I will have a play at creating a "spare" anyway.

Thanks,

John

The glass can be removed and reinserted from/in the housing without breaking. You do have to be careful, and you do not want to attempt it when the plastic holding the glass is stone cold, but it can be done.
