Garage Doors

Looking at having my garage totally rebuilt from the ground upwards and am after some feed back on garage doors.
Don't want an Up and Over door as I want to use the roof space so leaves me with roller or side hinged doors.
However, rollers are expensive and side hinged doors the security could be better.
Has anybody used these and what are your good and bad bits. I am looking at an opening of about 8 feet and height of 7 feet.

I had had a Cordula remote controlled, electronic roller door on my old house. I got it after my up and over fell off its runners and smashed my tank in.
I loved that door so much that as soon as I moved I had one installed in my new house.

Have the advantage that they seal with a rubber strip to the ground, so even strong windy rain doesnt get under.

I wouldnt have anything else. Cost about £1800.

Other companies quoted me a bit less, but seemed to spend more time slagging off Cordula / Rollexa than selling than showing me how good their own was.

It's worth forking out for the roller doors. A bonus is that you can park bikes right up to the threshold, which you can't do with "up'n'overs".

The other option is a side rolling door Joe, I had one of them in my last place in the Lakes and they're great too. They usually also have a 'normal' door built in as well, so you can just open that. Runner rail at the top and channel/rail at the bottom and the whole lot slides up the side of one wall. Only downside is that you have to have the shelves free standing at the side the door slides up. Other option is the rail slider which you could put against the ceiling leaving hanging storage space free.
