exhaust/electrics

Post by johnl »

folks, i just bought a staintune exhaust. Is it ok to route the wiring for the rear numberplate light through the centre of the two silencers as it was done for the original silencers. My only concern is with the exhaust getting hot and melting through the cord and sheaths that protect the wires.

thanks

Hi John
Thats exactly what you do...The cable has a heat resistant cover on it so is fine....the staintunes dont produce much if any more heat than stock..

A warning from experience though, the silencers Do get hot enough to melt wires that are not shrouded in the heatproof sheath.

thanks guys, the wires are coveres by their own sheath and then both are contained in a further black 'ribband/sock ' that i guess is heat proof.

I just wanted to check the correct route for the wires and avoid setting fire to my bike :(

I hope to finish putting the exhaust on over the next couple of days :D

cheers
