help setting up suspension

Help!
i'm 17 stone and 6'5" i'm trying to set my s up for me. does any one have a guide or anything?
i tend to ride fairly hard and prefer things on the harder side than soft but im not sure what to do with the s' suspenson

The standard front shock should be pretty good.....but ditch the rear as it's a pile of pooh and you'll never make it good!
Instead invest in a Ohlins (or similar high quality) with ride height adjuster and compression /rebound damping.
The key to setting up the rear unit is generally getting the ride height so the bike tips in the way you want it to.
If you get the correct spring rate for your body weight/ intended riding style then essentially you will only have to adjust the compression and rebound damping and maybe a tweek on the spring preload if you carry a pillion or extra luggage.

11S or 12S?
I'm 6'3" and 15 stone and, using a combination of a small amount of highly accurate computer-modelled dynamics software calculations and a lot of 'mmmmm...ermmmm....eeerrrr...' I wind the rear preload up to max then back off by 10 clicks. the small damping screw I wind all the way in then 1/2 turn out.
Front damper? 'Somewhere between no clicks and 8 clicks out'.
Sorry can't be more specific but to be perfectly honest with OEM suspension there's not a huge amount of adjustment available. Buy a set of Ohlins/Wilbers/Maxton etc and you'll be gobsmacked at the difference just small adjustments can make.

.......on a similar note......all you 12s owners with the fancy Ohlins shockadoodles fitted already......what are they like straight out the box??
Are they set up well or do you have to start from scratch?!

Baliey - dunno what the OEM Ohlins is like on the 12 but I'm led to believe it's like the stuff on the Aprilias ie not the same bits you'd get as aftermarket from Harris et al. Still bloody good gear though if PB's 12S was anything to go by.
Really ought to sort my shit and get some bouncy bits for my BCR.

I'm not aware that Ohlins do a budget product?
The stuff on the Aprilias is the same as what you get as a replacement from Harris.
I think maybe the quality on the valving used in WSB and Moto GP is slightly higher quality.
I really would be very happy if they could supply a premium product at a budget price
Is the front shock on your BCR a std length or a silly 'way too long' unit?
If it's just a standard, I'd just replace the back unit.It makes a big difference.

Bailey - front BCR shock's just a sport length jobbie (1150GS fork sliders give it the extra height). Just the rear that's a silly long one.
I've put up a 'wanted' in Bits4sale etc.

re 12S ohlins out of the box, as Ron says its soft (or plush if you want to be kind) but when you start to push on you'll want to stiffen it up.
I just went out over an afternoon and fiddled. Only pain on the road is front shock access.....

FWIW:
The front Ohlin on the 12S I tested didn't have a piggy back reservoir. The Harris sourced one on my 11S does.
