Help wanted, my clock has gone, I mean it is still there but the figures are no longer visable, the back light works. I shall go to the books and look knowledgable and hope that someone can offer a life line.

The fuse is in the little podule shown in the bottom left of the picture frame, but most likely the wire is severed, so once you repair that, all will be well again.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Have you got an alarm fitted? My spyball ued to take power from the clock feed and the numbers sometimes dissappeared then came back later. I've had the alarm removed and now the clock is fine

yes I have a Accumen Cat 1 alarm but that has been on the bike for a few years and this is the first occurance of this fault so I'm hoping that Paul has nailed the cause. I'll post Picture and details when fixed.

Ivor - Scotty and myself recently spent a while analysing a fault (via a telephone) with his horn... bare with me ... that was a knackered wire between the fuse outlet and the relay. In the process of finding the fault we found that the clock was effected (ie disabled). I think there is a red/white wire running from the fuses to the clock that provides the power - you might want to try and find that one first

Just picking up on Jason's message. The fault with my horn was a real pain to locate and as Jason said it was traced to a broken wire within the loom. When I wired in the new wire the horn worked but the clock did'nt and Clymers wiring diagram confirmed that there is a common wire that feeds both. In the end we fixed the problem by connecting both the existing and new wire and running power through both. As Jason said the broken wire was the red/white one.
Try and track it down by a process of elimination though ie check all the easier stuff like fuses etc. Hopefully it won't be a broken wire. However, if the break that I had enabled the clock to work but conked the horn out, it should be possible for the other to occur ie horn working but no clock so it just might be a broken wire.
Thanks to all for the guidance, Paul’s lead to the chaffed red/white wire proved to unearth a problem waiting to occur on mine, though not the cause of this snag. Having checked the "podule" and fuses all appeared OK, but still no clock display. I then moved to the r/hand side of the bike and the larger pod full of wires, plugs & relays, with the lid off, I found when the cabling, entering from the rear of pod, was moved the clock display came back and then faded away again. There is a blue 18 connector plug/socket assembly in here and when dismantled I found that the, red/white wire, pin in the socket had corroded through and it was making contact when the cable was moved, these pins are less than a mm. I have not carried out the repair yet but this seems to be likely culprit. Will post pictures when I can work out how? Strange thing, the bike is low mileage and lives in dry garage, there is no sign of moisture in pod, and I have now given it all a soaking with WD40.

Ok all back together and it's fixed, as mentioned the red/white cable alongside the L/hand relay pod had started to ware through the insulation, but the culprit was the same colour cable in the blue connector in the R/hand relay pod, picture of each attached.

Exactly the same problem now on my S. Horn, Clock and Numberplate Light all gone together. I just need to put this post back to the top of the forum so i can find the bloody thing again.
