Hi harry
I used pilot sports for years and loved them, although they did try and have me off a few times when cold.I have recently switched to 010's and like these even better.I dont think they will last as long as the pilots though.Grip wise they are better, wet or dry.The pilots did make the bike alot easier to turn and the stability was good also'this can also be said of the 010's.I would recommend either tyre, however the 010's have the edge if your looking for a pure sports tyre.

I've posted elsewhere on this site I really rate Pilot Roads(I am a despatch rider!).I've pushed them really hard and they've never got out of shape.Good wear, good in the wet,and enough grip to ride like a demon.
Personally I think Pilot Roads suck...seem to take eternity to warm up and are crap in the wet.I wrote a Falco off on them :(
On the Bridgestone front:both the 010 and 020 are great tyres. But there is a wear problem with the tread pattern on the fronts which essentially means that you only get about 70% out of them.
Just read a tyre report in Bike.It rates Pirelli Diablos and Sportecs!

I'd agree with Bailey re the Pilot Sports - I too had them on my Falco and hated the damn things. Twitchy, white-lined badly and only seemed to work when the temperature was above 20c.

I really rate the Diablo's - had them on the Buell and they were nigh on faultless, wet or dry. Not tried Sportecs but there are a couple of folk on here who don't like them on the S.

For me a pair of 020's is just fine - went out for a blat yesterday and had not one suirm from the bike, despite giving it some grief.

I'll be giving the Pilot Roads a go next - not heard any negativity yet and if Bailey says they're fine, that's fine for me (creep!!) :D

Hi Gents

Tyres really are a personal thing, whats good that'll be the one your happy with, how do you ride, what do you use your bike for,how well off are you!!!,they all make a difference,i'm a Bridgestone man excludeing the front 020 which personally i think is a horror,if you need wear it's 020 for the rear,at the moment i've 010's front and back but rear doesn't have a thousand miles on it and it looks well secondhand, and when i take the front of will go softer either 012 or 014,and will do the same on my Tiger

But you've got just as much chance of the next man turning up and saying there a load of tosh and they prefer this!!!!! which takes me back to the original qoute.

Put 50 miles of heat into a Macadam and you'll be able to stay with anything but is that what you need!!!!

have run 020's for 6k miles, they are now worn out and on the wear indicators, 2k ago they were starting to give bad feedback and would slide about until a good ten miles had been done.

However, if it's mainly cruising at 80ish and the odd reasonable thrash down a twisty road (as in riding on the throttle hard and not the brakes as well) then 5k seems to be the best for these.

I did used to get 6k out of 010's on a T595, I believe and with discussions with a BMW dealer that 010's on a R11S are only good for 4k miles which in some ways it means you aint getting them done at the service at the same time but for me thats changing tyres every 4 months :?

To try and clarify the situation...

Bailey had his Falco before Pilot Roads were released. My Falco (bought in '01) came with Pilot Sports so one would naturally deduce that Mr B is also referring to said hoops.

His S currently wears Pilot Roads.

hth :)

Ditto most of the above (except Bailey's bit!!!). I've got Pilot Sports and once they are warm they grip like anything. I've had no problems in the wet either. They do need to be warm however. When they are cold they're not good. I was thinking about the Pilot Roads next, but after Bailey's comments I'm not so sure :D

Chaps, I think Bailey meant to say this (if he doesn't mind me editing a quote!!):

I still prefer Bailey's version. It's like a tyre review done by that character from the Fast Show - "Brilliant!" :D

Sorry folks...think you caught me after a little too much tipple!
Should have read that PIOLT SPORTS did not impress me.
