Of the best stuff to repair and repaint the fork lowers and front stanchion thingy... and the rest of the engine that currently looks like a silver skirting board that has been attacked with a hot air gun
Someone I think mentioned some sort of engine paint or summit that was a good colour match to the original

I've some cellulose paint which is a perfect match for the engine cases. I've just painted the forks on my S with it, and I used it to tidy another less well cared for S engine. My forks turned out bootiful, and you can touch up engine paint really well, if you clean it well beforehand.
I've plenty of it if you want some.
Let me know.
Cheers

I think I'm gonna "do a Gus", and try painting the fork lowers with smooth Hammerite. In black. Never did like that silver BMW use (although that could be partially because it wouldn't stay on).

I did that a while ago (in silver) ....... now looks SH*TE again after a short time. I don't think it can stand the constant direct attack of water/stones/rubbish that comes it's way

I resprayed mine a month or so ago in smooth black hammerite, no signs of flaking yet, but then the weather's been fine. Will have to wait & see how it stands up, I'll be pretty dissapointed if it fails, spent a fair while prepping & must have done about 8 coats.

Sprayed mine with Halfords silver car paint. 18 months ago and still looks okay.
I still have the cans so will post the details when I get home.
