Rattly clutch

Post by bigbeemer2004 »

Dear All

My clutch (at least I think it's the clutch - could be gearbox related) has started to rattle at standstill when the bike is in neutral. If I pull the lever in, the rattle disappears (or diminishes to almost nothing).

This is very recent - just in the last 200 miles or so. There are no other symptoms - gears engage OK, no slip, no dropping out of gear.

Any thoughts? Big bill looming?

Not the clutch, just the play in the gearbox; the sound of pinions and bearings spinning..... they all do that sir!
Nothing to worry about.Sometimes it's made worse if your bike is running a little rough on idle or if the idle needs speeding up slightly.

Thanks Bailey

The idle is a bit rough and the throttles could probably do with being balanced, so I'm sure you're right and I just need to get that sorted.

Mine does it - mainly when the bike's just been ridden hard. Strange thing is that this is the first of the 4 S's I've owned which has done it.
