Rapid Dog here.
You'll be callin' me a noobie here for a while I suspect, all good...
At any rate, I'm thrilled to have discovered another R11S forum from a nice fella by the name of Peter, not sure what his handle is here at Boxertrix just yet.
I'm a good old coger from the Pelican R11S forum...regardless of what they say over there...
Please ta meet ya all!

Welcometo the board, I'm a relative noob here - I've not been riding her long, haven't been a member too long and I'm a bit younger than most...

...I understand you guys out on the island pretty much have seasonal riding there...is this true?
The fellow that hooked me up is a member here that I met via him buyng a set of my S barbacks...he indicated the season was soon coming to a close.
It seems odd to me when the best motorbike mags come from there.
Must be some hardcore bikers then...

I ride through every season, though some faster than others...

Best to ride all year. Winter is the only time up here that you get the roads free of tourists and sports bikes!
Loads of people ride all year round over here.
Sad but true though, I'd guess at least 70% tuck their bikes up from around October/November to March.
Any raise on 70% anyone?

Good to see you've made it over here Rapid, some of us browse the Pelican from time to time panning for nuggets of useful information but find the stuff like the Ilmberger threads a touch too hysterical
I'd say it's more like 90% park up their bikes for at least 3 months of the year - I for one would have to be pretty desperate to go to work on a bike (even the STX1300) but mine are road legal year round for that glimmer of sunshine moment. Main problem for us is the road salt (grit) that they put down if the weather is looking to freeze. It is very corrosive and the finish on most bikes is very poor now they have mostly switched to water based paints. And it rains here .......................a lot
Enjoy the board

Yes biking can be seasonal, but some of us have jumped ship and moved to places where the season is much longer. Like the comments about Yorkshire tourists, we have the same here, other than July/August, I can complete a 30 mile ride without seeing more than three cars!

...the same over here ; when there is salt on the road, the bike(s), and of course the (still rustfree !!) Mini, don't leave the garage...

Hello Rapid & welcome to Boxertrix. I frequently look on the Pelican & must re-register at some point.
Aren't you the bar-back man?
Cheers

Hello Rapid, like the pic of the upturned S

there's not enough pics on this forum. Its great that despite the 'trauma' of tipping the bike you had the good humour to photograph it. Nice one.
Some of us ride all year round... and the bike (and we) suffer for it.
More pics on the forum pls.
Ade.
