12v Supply and Earth point at front of bike

Post by julian »

I'm fitting a 139db Stebel horn which uses a relay to the stock horn wires and a meaty 12v supply and earth.

Is there a place at the front end of the bike where I can tap into 12V & earth or is it easier to run wires back to the battery.

Just trying to reduce the amount of copper wire to keep my sprung mass down  .

There was a spare power socket in the wiring box on the RHS at the front - that's on my '98 model.

I would run it from the battery with the original wiring ( for the horn ) triggering the relay (no.... really!)

Don't run it without a relay.

See if that works .....

The front Ohlins' resevoirmean't that the horn was too big to clear the forks on full lock.

I need to suspend it somehow between the forks so it moves with them or on the bottom bolt that secures the frot suspension.

I'll take a look in the fuse box for the power source - cheers.

Due to my Ohlins, I fitted the new horn on the RH side on the back of the BMW badge bolt. I had to make a simple bracket to make it fit. Naturally I also had to extend the wiring around. I simply could find a location around the headstock area. :?
